Five children, ages eight to 17, are killed in a horrific car accident in Scarsdale, New York, and the boy is the sole survivor

FIVE children were killed in a car crash after a teenager drove the vehicle into a tree and caught fire, police say.
The accident happened early Sunday morning on a New York freeway, but the victims were from Connecticut.

Authorities believe a 16-year-old boy was driving the vehicle when it skidded off the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale and collided with a tree, causing a fire that engulfed the vehicle.
The victims were between eight and 17 years old.
According to police, the only survivor was a nine-year-old boy.
According to police, the victims are four men and one woman.
During this time, relatives will be called.
The 9-year-old “apparently drove in the tailgate/cargo compartment and escaped from the rear,” Westchester County Police Department spokesman Kieran O’Leary said.
