The fire broke out this morning at Randle Lane, corner of Elizabeth Street in Surry Hills, on the southern edge of Sydney’s CBD.

Almost every room is bright and the building is surrounded by several other high-rise buildings.

As the fire rages, parts of the building can be seen collapsing.

Significant road closures are occurring in the Randall Street area.

A burning car could be seen in horror footage on the street below.

Firefighters were also seen putting out the flames in an adjacent building.

The blaze is being described as one of the largest runaway fires in living memory.

The fire brigade remains on site and tries to bring the fire under control.
