Final weeks for Americans to claim their share of $2million Delta settlement – check if you’re eligible

LESS than two weeks are left for Americans to claim their share of a huge $2 million settlement with Delta Air Lines.

September 15 marks the final day for U.S. citizens who faced Delta flight cancellations and failed ticket refunds in 2020 and 2021 to join the settlement.

Earlier this year, Delta Air Lines agreed to a settlement arising out of a class action lawsuit over refunds given to customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Although the major airline has not admitted wrongdoing, thousands of customers and former passengers have claimed that they were eligible for refunds from Delta and received flight credits instead.

According to the Department for Transport, customers are entitled to a cash refund when airlines cancel a flight “regardless of the reason”.

The refunds had to be related to flights scheduled to depart between March 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021.

In order for passengers to receive the compensation payments, their flights had to be canceled by Delta, they had to request a refund for the tickets as specified in Delta’s customer care or refund database, they did not receive a refund, and they had unused tickets or partial credit as of March 13 January 2023.

The action excludes Delta and its respective subsidiaries and affiliates, members, employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives and their families, as well as the class plaintiff and the judges involved in the case and their immediate families.

Additionally, local, municipal, state, and federal agencies, as well as those who timely opted out of the class action, will not receive compensation.

Anyone wishing to exclude themselves or object to the agreement must expect a deadline of August 31.

The final approval hearing in this case is scheduled for October 5.

Compensation payments will only be made to the participants after the hearing.

Anyone wishing to apply and submit documents to claim some of the settlement benefits can do so at Airlineticketsettlement.com.

If your claim is approved, you may have the option to request cash or credit payment for any eligible ticket that has not been refunded within the eligible period.

If you receive a cash payment, this includes an amount to cover the cost of the ticket and interest.

In the meantime, the credit payment preserves the ticket balance and also gives you a credit for interest.
