TRANSGENDER cyclist Emily Bridges is the latest person to attack the Prime Minister.
And may have shown him a way to win the next general election.
Boris Johnson said biological men should not compete against women in sporting competitions.
This, of course, angered Bridges, who was born a dude and claims to have received death threats following Boris’ intervention.
If so, that is terrible and to be condemned in the strongest terms.
This strange culture war over transgender people often gets uncomfortably personal. It shouldn’t.
Transgender people deserve as much love, respect and freedom from discrimination as anyone else in society.
But it doesn’t mean that a man who transitions is actually a woman.
This is a denial of scientific fact.
It’s all in the chromosomes – and in the muscles and the testosterone and the bone structure. For once, Boris was right.
And I bet at least 90 percent of the population agrees with him.
This demand to pit men against women in sports and put men in women’s prisons is being pushed by a very loud, very strident, tiny minority.
And I suppose the general public doesn’t like it one bit.
They side with Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who is also receiving death threats for claiming that there is such a thing as a “woman”.
The conservatives have been spectacularly useless when it comes to advocating common sense in this so-called culture war.
Among Conservatives, increasing numbers of children were being given life-changing transitional treatment at the Tavistock Clinic, and arguments over when young people can consent to such things went all the way to the Court of Appeal.
Under Conservatives, our children are fed pro-trans propaganda in schools.
Conservatives have done nothing to stop the ridiculous “decolonization” of university subjects and national institutions.
All because these are sensitive issues and the Tories don’t want to get themselves into trouble.
But voters know exactly what a woman is: a grown human woman, with a cervix (and often a large collection of shoes).
Transgender people deserve as much love, respect and freedom from discrimination as anyone else in society. But it doesn’t mean that a man who transitions is actually a woman.
They don’t like it when children are force-fed progressive idiots by teachers who repeat Stonewall’s horrible campaign organization.
They are proud of their country.
They believe in freedom of expression and the right to offend.
Voters in the Rote Wand seats are particularly hot on the subject. I know – because I live in one of them. And at election time, I knock on doors and ask them.
Labor and the mindless Lib Dems both sign all progressive culture war b****cks.
So this is Boris’ chance to put clear blue water between his party and the rest.
Roll back the measures put in place that advance the case of transgender people while discriminating against women.
Stand up for freedom of speech. Tell the racers that even though we’ve made mistakes in the past, we’re proud of our country and its history.
Comment on these issues.
And then maybe, just maybe, some of those breakaway voters will come back to the Conservatives.
AND that’s why Boris wants us to “draw a line under everything” and move on. With almost half the faction against him.
For my part, I don’t doubt that the BBC and ITV, who hate Boris, overdid the Partygate stuff.
Nor do I doubt that much of the hatred against him in his own party stems from Brexit.
But he should have gone anyway.
Apart from anything else, that would be about the only way the Tories could win the next election.
My suspicion is that he will leave sooner rather than later.
Something new will come out. It always does with Boris.
I NEVER WILL, THERE IS STILL LIFE IN THE MONARCHY
For a long time I believed that when our Queen is gone, the monarchy will be over.
And yet there was great turnout at Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
This is the silent majority of this country, stepping up and making themselves heard. So maybe there’s still some life left in the institution.
I just wish we could maybe skip a generation and move on to Prince William.
He’s a bit serious and not exactly brimming with charisma.
But there’s something very personable about the guy and he seems to take his duties seriously.
‘SHIFTY’ HUNT IS NOT A PN
If I had to make a list of people I really don’t want to be prime minister of this country, Jeremy Hunt would definitely be in my top 20.
Somewhere between Nicola Sturgeon and Harry Maguire.
What I don’t like about him? Well, primarily his politics.
He was a devout remainer on Brexit.
And he’s a liberal. A liberal with the same arrogance as those other beat-up old liberals, Kenneth Clarke and Michael Heseltine.
Also, he has one of those smiles that seems to say, “I’m smiling at you right now, but look away for a moment and I’ll set your pup on fire.”
He’s the favorite of the Tory Remainer fringe.
Let’s hope the hell he doesn’t stand a chance of getting the job.
Should it ever be available.
WILL the new Love Island series be run by South Africa’s old white government? It was like apartheid.
The paired couples were strictly separated by a viewer vote. Black with black, white with white.
It was like watching a scene from Alabama in the 1950’s.
Perhaps they should have separate areas for the black and white couples to dine in as well.
UN HAT GSOH I guess
HERE is a question for you.
If the presence of Sudan, Pakistan, Libya and China at the UN Human Rights Council hasn’t convinced you that the UN is an absurd waste of time and money, then what is?
What about the country that now leads the UN-backed disarmament conference?
Guess which one it is.
I bet you can.
Yes, North Korea.
TAX SMOKING AT CIGS
I quit smoking last year with no major problems.
I was almost 60 a day for the better part of 45 years, and giving up wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
But I don’t regret smoking for so long — even if it sometimes meant weird black stuff coming out of my lungs every now and then.
I enjoyed it.
I knew it wasn’t good for my health, but I figured the risk was worth it.
So I have mixed feelings about this plan put forward by Health Minister Sajid Javid to raise the smoking age to 21.
There are many ways we harm our health – lack of exercise, eating family packs of Doritos, getting pissed off and so on.
And I still think it should be up to the individual to decide what he or she wants to do, not the government.
WAKE UP GARETH
ENGLAND coach Gareth Southgate received much praise from his peers in the press for his substitutions against Germany.
Why? All he did was bring in one player – Jack Grealish – who should have been there from the start.
I’ll tell you straight away: we’re not going to win a tournament under this man.
And the squatting stuff has gotten absolutely ridiculous.
In the meantime, we had to endure Channel 4’s terrible coverage of the game.
It was more awake than a newborn baby at 3am.
Producers no longer care what the on-screen pundits say and how useful they are to audiences—as long as it’s politically correct.
