A 45-YEAR-OLD man was found dead Wednesday in the artificial lake surrounding the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers’ SoFi Stadium.
This is the fifth fatality in recent years at the stadium in Inglewood, California since its construction in 2020.

The unidentified man arrived at the stadium parking lot around 6:01 a.m. local time, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After noticing the man on stadium security cameras, security forces immediately contacted law enforcement, Sports Illustrated reports.
Los Angeles County Firefighters and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and reported their search on twitter.
Around 9:48 a.m., the body was recovered by local law enforcement, CBS says.

Inglewood Mayor James Butts would note that they don’t know why the man came onto the property or entered the artificial lake.
“Honestly, this is someone who made a conscious decision to enter the property, to get into the lake, and ended up having some difficulties and difficulties,” he said
Butts continued, “So I don’t think there’s anything SoFi could have done to prevent this.”
The unidentified man’s drowning is now the fifth death in a string of horrifying cases since 2020 at SoFi Stadium.
It all started in June 2020 when 37-year-old construction worker Juan Becerra fell 120 feet to his death while working on the stadium, ESPN reported.
About a month later, in July, 32-year-old Simon Leo Fite died at the Sofi Stadium from a “personal health condition” later described as heat exhaustion.
He was also a construction worker, reports NBC 4 Los Angeles.
Then, in September 2020, 25-year-old Sergio Rojo was killed in an accident due to a “sharp violent injury,” according to the KTLA and Los Angeles County Coroner’s Reports.
He was near the trailers at the Sofi Stadium.
In December 2020, another construction worker named Luis Escobar was killed in an accident involving a crane, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner and the Los Angeles Times.

Although the as-yet-unidentified man’s recent death in the artificial lake comes almost two years after the last fatality at the site, it nonetheless remains unusual.
Police are in the process of further identifying the man.
