In 2021, former teammate/UFC fighter Colby Covington brought some shocking news to light. In one social media posts and interviews that followed, Covington eliminated his friend as a bitter rival by revealing his real wife. According to Covington, Maritza Collado or Maritza Masvidal is Jorge’s real, legal wife and mother of his children. Covington added how deep his friendship was with Jorge and Maritza when they were young.

In addition, Covington revealed how Masvidal agents manipulated information on the internet to hide the truth. While all of this is a very interesting development of the situation, there is not enough evidence of it.
