‘Fantastic player’ – Michael Owen feels ‘it would be an absolute crime’ if his favorite 2021 Ballon d’Or is not won

Former Premier League striker Michael Owen chose Bayern Munich forward Robert lewandowski for 2021 Ballon d’Or.

Owen believes Lewandowski was extremely unlucky not to win the Ballon d’Or last year because it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the 41-year-old professional believes no other candidate can come close to the Polish striker in his books.

Tell Euronews (via Daily Posts), Michael Owen says:

“I thought Lewandowski was unlucky not to win it at COVID that year, obviously it was suspended or canceled that year, and I would probably go with him. There are other contenders, don’t get me wrong, Mo Salah has had a great season, even though he hasn’t won anything. Jorginho, on the other hand, for Chelsea, [has] won it all. “

“But I’m not sure he has the potential to win it against players like Lewandowski, and so I’ll probably go with him. He’s won the Bundesliga again,” he added.

Michael Owen also stated that it would be a crime if Lewandowski did not win the Ballon d’Or once in his career. Owen added:

“His numbers are quite astounding. His goals for the past year. So I think I’ll buy Lewandowski. It would be an absolute crime if he went through his career without a win. He is a great player. ”

Robert Lewandowski played a key role in the recent success of Bayern Munich. The 33-year-old striker scored 48 goals in 40 appearances last season as the Bavarian giants won the Bundesliga.

The previous season, Lewandowski had scored 55 goals in 47 appearances as he led Bayern Munich to a treble under the management of Hansi Flick. The Polish forward would have almost certainly won last year’s Ballon d’Or had it not been cancelled.

“The Jorginho confuses me… He’s not the best player at Chelsea and he’s not the best on the charts with Italy either!”@themichaelowen and @ rioferdy5 discuss the nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or is Robert Lewandowski the most deserving? 🔴#UCLTONIGHT https://t.co/pQ4BBAhBik

The Golden Ball 2021 will be a battle of wits between Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi, like every other year, is expected to race for this year’s Ballon d’Or. The 34-year-old striker helped Argentina win its first Copa America title since 1993.

Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski are two of the favorites for the 2021 Ballon d’Or. Other contenders for the award include Karim Benzema and Jorginho.

Jorginho has had an outstanding 2020-21 season for both club and country. The 29-year-old midfielder lifted the Champions League with Chelsea and then the Euro 2020 championship with Italy.

The 2021 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony will take place on November 29 in Paris.
