FANS were shocked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s noble gesture in Al-Nassr’s victory over Al-Shabab.
The Portuguese star scored a hat-trick in the game but offered Abdulrahman Ghareeb a chance to score when his side were awarded a penalty.
Ghareeb has struggled this season, failing to score in his four appearances.
But in the 63rd minute, with Al-Nassr leading 3-0, Ronaldo, who was incredibly goal-hungry, gave him a golden opportunity to break free.
Ronaldo is, of course, Al-Nassr’s regular penalty taker – and had already scored TWICE from the penalty spot in the first half of the game.
The 38-year-old Manchester United legend and team-mate Sadio Mane, who also scored in the first half, even played cheerleaders as they urged fans to support Ghareeb as he stood over the ball.
However, disaster struck when Ghareeb slammed his penalty into the post.
Ronaldo may have regretted his decision as he failed to score again in the 4-0 win, missing a chance for a second hat-trick in a week.
But surprised fans took to social media to praise him for giving him the opportunity to score away from home.
One fan tweeted: “Cristiano Ronaldo could have scored a hat trick but he decided to give his penalty to a struggling teammate instead.”
