SOCCER fans were in hysterics after Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy cheekily waved goodbye to Southampton defender Duje Caleta-Car after his red card.
The 26-year-old Croatian defender was sent off in the 86th minute of the 1-0 Carabao Cup first-leg defeat in the Carabao Cup semifinals on Tuesday night.
As he trotted off the field, cameras caught Murphy sarcastically waving at him.
And quickly, many spectators flocked to watch social media react to the moment.
One person said: “Like any other fan I gave Murphy the worst stick imaginable but gave the man a lifetime contract afterwards! The best s***housery I’ve ever seen! 🤣”.
Another added: “Absolutely top notch s***housery lol 😂”.
And a third said: “Jacob Murphy get in boy! First class s***housery!! 👋🏻“.
One Saints fan responded: “It’s just a goal and if (very big IF for us 🤣) we flip it I have a feeling Murphy will have 11 Saints players and a few fans waving at him. “
Joelinton’s goal in the 73rd minute has given Newcastle a slim lead to return to St James’ Park for the second leg in seven days.
The 26-year-old Brazilian striker spared his own blush after missing a huge chance early in the second half.

A cross from Miguel Almiron found its way to Joelinton, only for him to fire from four yards over the goal.
But then he made up for his mistake by completing substitute Alexander Isak’s fine run to victory.
Newcastle will now be confident of seeing the draw and reaching the final.
If they make it to Wembley, Eddie Howe’s side will face either Nottingham Forest or Man Utd.
