Fans joke The Simpsons years ago predicted the sad 0-0 draw between England and USA in the 2022 World Cup

FANS have joked on Twitter that the Simpsons predicted England’s dismal draw against the USA years ago.

The Three Lions were outclassed by their American counterparts in a boring stalemate in their second Group B World Cup game.

Even the Wags yawned throughout the game as the toothless Three Lions posed no serious threat to the Americans.

That result still left England at the top of the group on four points, one ahead of second-placed Iran.

The USA, who play Iran on Tuesday, are third with two points after two straight draws.

And Wales, who meet England in the final game of Group B, are bottom by a point.

That means the Three Lions will qualify for the Round of 16 if they avoid a 4-0 loss to the Welsh.

However, the fact that they practically guaranteed a spot in the knockouts couldn’t stop fans from blasting the performance in the draw.

Now many are convinced that the American TV hit The Simpsons has in fact eerily predicted the future again.

In a March 2014 episode titled You Don’t Have to Live Like a Referee, The Simpsons correctly predicted that Germany would win the World Cup this summer.

That followed a string of other predictions that eventually came true – including Donald Trump becoming US President.

And now many believe the 1997 episode “The Cartridge Family” may have set the stage for tonight’s standoff in England.

Homer Simpson, his wife Marge and children Bart and Lisa watched a TV advert for a game that will determine “which is the greatest nation in the world” – but just seconds into the action, the former is heard “boring” scream.

And that clip quickly resurfaced after full-time tonight in Qatar, with one tweet: “The Simpsons predicted that.”

Another tweeted: “I literally thought about it as I watched.”

Another fan commented: “England and USA literally emulated the Simpsons episode where they made fun of football. Hyped to the max and delivering a boring game.”

While another wrote: “Holy shit the Simpsons predicted England vs USA.”
