Fans couldn’t believe the size of college football umpire Christian Watson during Thursday night’s game

THIS college football umpire probably doesn’t have to deal with a lot of back talk.

Refereeing can be a thankless task, but Christian Watson seems unlikely to have to deal with dissenting players any time soon.

That’s because, like many watching BYU’s 38-16 win over Utah State on Thursday night, Watson may have noticed that he appeared to have hit the gym.

Former BYU player Jonny Linehan tweeted: “I made a lot of calls at the game but now I see this guy up close. I want to publicly admit that I was wrong and I’m sorry.”

ESPN reporter Harry Lyles Jr. also waded in and captioned his retweet: “That didn’t make it on the air, but before kick-off Watson told me he scored 405 for 12 on the bench that morning.”

And fans were equally impressed by the jacked referee.

One person commented: “Good god he has to get dressed for someone. The man is too damn tall to be a referee.”

While others took the opportunity to poke fun at Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson: “When they said Christian Watson was a good blocker, that’s not what they meant.”

In 2019, The Crown Refs Podcast dubbed Watson “the Bo Jackson of umpires” because he also officiates Division 1 basketball and baseball.
