Fans are all saying the same thing as Jamie Vardy reveals ‘simple’ decision to snub Man Utd and sign new Leicester contract

Vardy agreed to extend his current contract at Leicester City until June 2024, ending interest from Man Utd. He said it was an “easy” decision.

The 35-year-old Leicester legend has already scored 164 goals in 387 games since signing for £1million from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012.

The veteran striker, who celebrated 10 years at the club in May, also turned away from Chelsea’s potential interest in signing Brendan Rodgers for the Foxes.

And football fans have blasted Man Utd for thinking they had ‘a shot’ at signing Leicester legend Vardy amid their own striker crisis.

One fan tweeted: “Man Utd thought they had a chance.”

Another quipped: “Vardy was so concerned about United’s interest that he signed a new contract.”

Others claim Vardy used United to get better terms.

They said: “Add Jamie #Vardy to the list of players who used a link to #United to get a bigger deal at his club.”

The established striker told LCFC.com: “I’m obviously over the moon.

“When I heard it was something the club was looking at there was only one thing that was going to happen and I would sign it. The decision was easy.

“I’ve been here long enough to feel part of the facility.

“I think you can tell by the way we’re trying to play, by the way the club wants to go, it’s going to be forward and upward.

“Now it’s all about finishing this season as well as possible.

“My legs still feel great so I will help the club in any way I can, whether it’s scoring goals or assisting, that’s what I’m here for.”

Vardy, who is the Foxes’ top earner at £140,000 a week, has won Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield and Championship titles with Leicester.

He was a key figure in the club’s promotion to the top flight in 2013/14, hitting the net 16 times and playing a crucial role in historic relegation the following season.

Last season was a difficult one for Vardy, who only played 25 times in the league due to serious injuries.

Nonetheless, he ended the campaign as the Premier League’s top scorer at Leicester with 15 goals and two assists to prove to the Foxes board that he was worthy of a new deal.
