Family tells of ’emptiness’ after late top author’s dogwalker stepdaughter was run over and killed with her 3 golden retrievers

THE family of a woman killed in a car crash has said her death leaves a “void” that can never be filled – the victim turns out to be the stepdaughter of a deceased best-selling author.

Olivia Riley, 41, and her golden retrievers died on Saturday after clashing in a millionaires row in Chelsea, London.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing the death by dangerous driving before being later released on bail.

Olivia’s uncle Mark Riley, 71, said he was “completely incomprehensible” when told of her death.

He told the Daily Mail: “It was something that’s impossible to understand.

“Nobody should have to go through that.

“As an individual, you just couldn’t hope to ever meet someone who could be so cheerful, full of life and considerate of others.

“She had an infectious sense of humor and was a confidante to all family members.

“Aside from all the fantastic memories, this void will never be filled.

“She was very extraordinary and it was fantastic to be around her.”

And it has been confirmed that Olivia’s stepmother was the late bestselling author Lucinda Riley, with whom she worked as a personal assistant for many years.

Lucinda’s Seven Sisters series, which began in 2014, became an international bestseller with sales in excess of 20 million.

Olivia was the main point of contact for all of her stepmother’s 37 global publishers and ran social media profiles and websites as part of her duties, reports The Telegraph.

Her father Stephen became Lucinda Riley’s manager and literary agent in 2013.

Lucinda’s last book, The Missing Sister, became a bestseller in the weeks following her death from cancer last year.

Olivia’s neighbors in North Elmham, Norfolk, also paid tribute to her yesterday, describing her as a “lovely and talkative” person who “thought her dogs’ world”.

Police and paramedics were called to Cheyne Walk at 6:21 a.m. to receive reports of a collision involving a pedestrian, animals and an Audi.

The 41-year-old was found dead on May 14, and her dogs also died as a result of the injuries, police said.

A witness to the aftermath described it as “absolute carnage.”

They said on Facebook: “Two dead golden Labradors and one squeaking so loud piercing the chaos all around.

“A lot of blood and several smashed cars.

“I have since learned that the dog owner and her three dogs died at the scene.

“RIP Lady and her dogs. So very very sad. Prayers for your family.”

Another passerby wrote on Twitter: “I drove past this shortly after it happened.

“Absolutely horrible scene – mutilated traffic lights and three dead dogs in the road. There was damage to several cars.”
