Fabio Cannavaro reveals he’s ‘close’ to a Chelsea move from Juventus and is now open to a move to England as manager

FOOTBALL legend Fabio Cannavaro has revealed he came very close to joining Chelsea – before choosing Real Madrid instead.
The retired centre-back has also reiterated his desire to manage in the Premier League.
SunSport exclusively revealed that Cannavaro was interviewed for the Everton job – finally missed out on Frank Lampard.
But that hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for a top job on these shores.
Cannavaro has never played in the Premier League, but he has claimed he’s come close.
But in the end, it was former England manager Fabio Capello who convinced him otherwise.
Talking to walkie talkieThe 48-year-old explained: “I was close to signing when I was at Juventus [in 2006].
“A friend of mine called me and asked if I was coming to Chelsea and I knew they were interested.
“But in the end I moved to Madrid and of course Fabio Capello was there.”

In November, SunSport revealed exclusively how the 5ft 9in tall former centre-back imagines a crack at the top flight in England.
Cannavaro has been considered for the big job at Watford as Evertonand described how he was ‘proud’ that they considered him.
The Italy international 136 added: “Sometimes people think about me maybe they think I don’t know the league, that I have no experience in Europe.
“But that’s football. I know what’s happening at the clubs, in the dressing room.
“But, no, I’m proud that Everton and Watford have also asked me for an interview and I really appreciate that.”
