“Anything can happen,” says Sainz

Sainz believes he can still win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix after a “painful” crash at Imola in qualifying and fourth place in the sprint race.

Sainz revealed how the shunt affected him after the race. “Very painful,” he revealed.

He continued, “I mean, I’m not going to hide it. It was a very negative day for me.

“That’s how it is sometimes in sport, you have bad moments and that was definitely a low point for me yesterday and I’m always trying to learn from it and make myself stronger from it.

“The most important thing is that we recovered solidly today and put ourselves in the fight for tomorrow and anything could happen tomorrow.

“I could still win, I could still get on the podium and leave the weekend pretty happy. It is important to keep learning from these mistakes.

“I mean it’s no secret, mistakes like yesterday happen for a reason and I’m still not 100%, I’m out there fighting the car trying to figure it out.

“Obviously I’m fast, it’s no secret I was fast yesterday, in Australia I was fast. It’s just the confidence and predictability I have from the car. And once I sort that out I’ll do it. ” be 100%.”
