FORMULA ONE icon Lewis Hamilton returns to the British Grand Prix circuit with practice sessions starting TODAY.

The Brit secured a second podium finish of the season at the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

But his preparation this week has been marred by racist language used by former three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet against the 37-year-old.

Piquet is the father of Kelly, girlfriend of Hamilton’s rival Max Verstappen.

Verstappen is looking to secure another race win this year as he nears a second straight F1 championship.

But Hamilton will fight around every corner at his home Grand Prix, as will Verstappen’s title rival this season, Charles Leclerc.

When is the British Grand Prix?

• The British Grand Prix race takes place on Sunday 3rd July at the famous Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire and starts at 3pm BST.
• Training one and two were on Friday, July 1.
• The third training starts at 12 o’clock Saturday July 2nd and qualifying takes place later that day at 15:00.
