Ex-manager becomes Britain’s smallest firefighter – just 5ft tall

BIG-heart Charlotte York is Britain’s smallest firefighter – just 5ft tall.
The former manager, 22, is trained and just qualified to drive the crew’s 12.5-ton fire truck to an emergency.
But she has to push the seat forward to reach the pedals.
She told The Sun: “I absolutely love my job.
“It’s a real challenge knowing that you have a responsibility to get the team there so it can save someone’s life.
“But there’s nothing my training hasn’t prepared me for.”
Charlotte was given a surplus from British Airways at the start of the pandemic, so she followed her dream and now works for the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Charlotte, of Llantwit Major, South Glamorgan, added: “I have passed the required physical exams and am in the same good shape as the rest of the crew.
“The fact that this size gives me an edge when dealing with car crashes or fires in tight or cramped areas.
“It doesn’t hold me back – even when I sometimes try to reach for the cupboard when I’m at home.”
