Former Manchester City midfielder David Silva has been fined more than €1,000 for grabbing a woman during a fight at a music festival in Spain.
The incident happened three months ago at the Maspalomas Carnival in Gran Canaria.
Also involved in the brawl were Silva’s brother Fernando Antonio Jimenez Silva and a third person not named in the report.
The third person hit a young man with a rock, threatened another with a knife and shouted, “Come here and I’ll cut you.”
Spanish outlet Tiempo de Canarias reports that the court documents detailed how Silva grabbed the young woman’s arm to move her away, causing her to fall to the ground.
Judge Francisco Javier Ramirez de Verger Vargas’s verdict concluded that as a result of the Spaniard’s actions, the young woman suffered “post-traumatic neck pain, bruises on her left elbow, a laceration on the second finger of her left hand, lacerations on both knees and lacerations on her both legs.”
He added that the injuries required “first medical attention with no subsequent medical treatment and eight days of minor assault.”
Silva accepted the case closure, which meant he was fined between €1080 and €12 a day for what is expected to be three months while the injuries heal.
The judge stated that he was the “responsible offender of minor bodily harm with subsidiary personal liability for failure to pay one day’s imprisonment for every two unpaid daily rates,” the judge said.
The Real Sociedad star has also been ordered to pay the woman 520 euros in compensation for the injuries sustained and the material damage caused.
Silva’s brother is said to have hit a young man in the face and on several parts of the body.
He also “slapped several punches” at another young woman and received a three-month fine for it.
Meanwhile, the third person has been sentenced to eight months in prison for throwing a rock at another man’s head – causing a wound that required surgery – and a further three months fine for threatening: ‘Come here and I’ll get you cut.”
Silva returned to Spain after 10 years at Man City to sign for Real Sociedad in 2020.
During his time in England he scored 77 goals and provided 140 assists. Many fans celebrated him as a club legend.
He has also represented the Spanish national team 125 times.
