Ex-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ‘is ready to take a job in England’ after shocking Stamford Bridge

THOMAS TUCHEL is reportedly ready to take on the job of England manager.

The German was suddenly fired by Chelsea’s new owners in September and replaced by Graham Potter.

But after a month out of the game, picture Germany reported that Tuchel would consider the Three Lions appearance if it were available sometime in the future after the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate is under the greatest pressure he has faced in six years as head coach of the national team.

England are without a win in six games ahead of next month’s winter tournament.

And there is some evidence Southgate could step down from his job after Qatar 2022, regardless of how far his side go – although his contract runs until December 2024.

Tuchel’s successor Potter remains the favorite to be the next England manager despite having just signed a five-year, £50million deal at Stamford Bridge.

Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pochettino and Steve Cooper are also among the most likely candidates.

Like Tuchel, Poch is a free agent as he is currently unemployed since leaving PSG.

However, Tuchel could be a more suitable candidate given his record in knockout competitions.

The 49-year-old won the DFB Cup with Dortmund, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue with PSG, the Champions League and the Club World Cup as Chelsea coach.

He also has runners-up medals from five other major finals.

Tuchel, who reportedly turned down a takeover bid at Bayer Leverkusen, said of his departure from the Blues: “That’s one of the hardest statements I’ve ever had to write – and it’s one I hoped I wouldn’t make would have to be many years.

“I’m devastated that my time at Chelsea is over.

“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally.

“Thank you to all the staff, the players and the fans who made me feel very welcome from the start.

“The pride and joy I felt in helping the team win the Champions League and Club World Cup will always stay with me.

“I am honored to have been a part of the history of this club and whatever the future holds for me, the memories of the last 18 months will always hold a special place in my heart.”
