Ex-Arsenal star Bacary Sagna has found a new job after retiring from football after starting a business selling BACKPACKS

BACARY SAGNA has swapped back fours for backpacks – after the ex-Arsenal star gave up football to sell £200 ‘weightless backpacks’.

The former Manchester City defender carried a heavy burden during ten years in the Premier League but is now helping others travel light after retiring from playing.

Instead of continuing his career, the 39-year-old becomes a partner in the French company Gravipack after a chance encounter with founder Mohammed Errafi on a train.

Ex-France star Sagna has pumped £220,000 into the store and will join a host of walking groups to show off the company’s lightweight products.

Appearing with Errafi on French television, he trudged through the countryside with walkers and claimed: “This is the biggest challenge of my life outside of football.”

Errafi recalled how Sagna thought the businessman was crazy as he told the 65 cap star of his weightless wonders.

He said: “In November 2019, I got on a train at the same time as Bacary Sagna.

“I told him that I had invented a weightless backpack. He burst out laughing and told me I was crazy.

“I invented a product that distributes the load comfortably and relieves the back.

“The shoulder straps are unique. Your shoulders feel free and there’s an impressive weight clearance.”

Sagna was not known for getting into backpacks during his playing career.

In 267 Prem he scored four goals and was only sent off once despite receiving 29 bookings.

But now he’s hoping to rock the backpack market.

Sagna left the Etihad for Italy’s Benevento four years ago but soon joined MLS club Montreal Impact, who retired in 2019.
