Lampard was sacked after a poor form that saw the club struggle for Premier League survival.

The club have moved to find his successor and have held talks with both Dyche and ex-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

However, it appears that the club have opted for the Englishman which has led to the club being trolled.

A fan had edited the manager’s Wikipedia page and questioned Dyche’s sanity at the prospect of taking the job.

The edit read: “On 27 January 2023 he was appointed manager of Everton FC.

“Taking over from Frank Lampard, who was sacked after just one win in nine games.

“Many football pundits think he is absolutely insane to take the job and his sanity has been widely questioned.”

Dyche has been unemployed since he was sacked by the Clarets in April last year.

He has been awaiting a top-notch offer after refusing multiple approaches from Championship clubs.

One obstacle the 51-year-old has to overcome is an affinity for the Toffees supporters, having been a supporter of city rivals Liverpool in his youth.
