Everton doctors believe Jordan Pickford’s hamstring injury is caused by his powerful KICKING as England worries ahead of the World Cup

JORDAN PICKFORD’s hamstring injury is causing some concern for Everton and England – but could simply be down to his KICK.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper suffered from thigh pain before collapsing in the Merseyside derby and will be out for at least a month.

A statement from Everton read: “Jordan Pickford picked up a hamstring injury against Liverpool.

“The England international underwent a medical this week and is unlikely to return to action until after the next international break.”

Now the Toffees’ medical team plans to examine Pickford during rehab.

The Goodison Park team fear his powerful shot at the ball is causing the problem.

His long ball ability was on display for all in Everton’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest last month.

The former Sunderland goalscorer produced Pass of the Season as he played at Demarai Gray to equalize late on.

Pickford’s injury will be a blow to England ahead of their forthcoming UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Germany at the end of September.

And his absence from the team will give Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsdale a chance to impress boss Gareth Southgate in his quest to become the Three Lions’ No 1.

There has been much debate over who should start at the World Cup since Ramsdale joined the Gunners from Sheffield United last year.

And with Nick Pope dazzling between the sticks for Newcastle, Southgate will be food for thought ahead of the global tournament in Qatar.

However, Pickford is expected to retain his place as Southgate No. 1 as the player is in fine form this season having played against Chelsea, Brentford and Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether Everton will dive into the open market to snap up another goalkeeper in Andy Lonergan, who is out with a knee injury.

Veteran Asmir Begovic is expected to follow in Pickford’s footsteps, while academy ace Billy Cremlin Frank Lampard is the only other alternative.
