Everton ‘contact Tottenham’ over £20m Harry Winks transfer after midfielder said he could leave Spurs

EVERTON have reportedly “contacted” Tottenham about a £20m move for Harry Winks.

The 26-year-old midfielder was recently informed by Spurs that he can leave the club as he is not included in coach Antonio Conte’s plans.

Winks started in just nine Premier League games in the 2021/22 season – the last of which came in February.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur were preferred to the Englishman for long stretches of the second half of the season.

Oliver Skipp will also return from injury in the 2022/23 season, while the arrival of central midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton has pushed Winks even further down the pecking order.

As a result, he is expected to leave north London this summer, despite having two years left on his current contract.

According to Football Insider, Everton have approached Spurs about a potential deal.

It would make sense given that Frank Lampard has already left two midfielders in the last 30 days.

Fabian Delph retired due to his contract expiring at the end of the season.

And Donny van de Beek returned to Manchester United after his unsuccessful loan.

The Toffees will be keen to bring in some fresh faces to avoid another relegation battle.

But they could face competition for Winks in the form of Fulham and Southampton from the Premier League.

LaLiga side Sevilla are also believed to be interested in the midfielder who has been crowned ten times by England.
