Erling Haaland hardly trains at Man City as the striker is aiming for more goalscoring records with 45 goals

ERLING HAALAND has barely trained during his record-breaking goal hunt.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed his 45-goal striker is being closely monitored around the clock to ensure he remains fit.

Although Haaland is at the Etihad campus for hours every day, he usually works indoors with physiotherapists and massage therapists.
City know he struggled with injury last season at Borussia Dortmund and are determined to ensure there is no repeat of the Treble hunt.
Guardiola said: “I don’t know what he did at Dortmund, but we take care of him 24 hours a day.
“We have incredible doctors and physiotherapists, they are behind him every second of the day.
“It’s hard to understand why you would spend a lot of money on a player and then leave him.
“Today, with this demanding schedule, we have to take care of it every three or four days.
“It’s so exhausting today, with nutrition, rest, sleep, food.
“For exercise – if you decide how many minutes, there is data that says they can’t exercise for more than 10 or 15 minutes.

“Erling works so much time in the training center, much more than on the pitch. Today, in modern football, players train more behind the scenes than on the pitch.
“We know we have to be like a clock because he’s so big.
“The physiotherapists massage his back, shoulders, tendons, everything.”
Haaland is chasing a number of records – including becoming the all-time Premier League goalscorer in a season.
The £51.4million man currently has 30 league goals ahead of Saturday’s home game against relegation-threatened Leicester.
The current record of 34 in a season is held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer – both in a 42-game season.

But Haaland also overtook Clive Allen’s 1986-87 tally of 49 goals in all competitions.
Even Dixie Dean’s amazing tally of 63 goals in a 1927-28 season could be in jeopardy if Haaland stays fit and fires.
Meanwhile, Guardiola – whose side face Leicester on Saturday – says delighted to have the fate of this season’s title race in his team’s own hands again.
Leaders Arsenal lost two points to Liverpool on Sunday, meaning City closed the gap to six points – and had a game in hand.

He said: “Definitely it’s better and we’re absolutely enjoying it. I would like to be in Arsenal’s place now.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in a week’s time – or another nine games if we play Brighton – but I’m happy to be in the position we are in.”
