But the striker said: “It could have been more. We should have been tighter in the second half and worked a little harder because it was a bit sloppy at times.

“We lost the second half and that’s not good, so we still have work to do.”

Haaland has netted hat-tricks in three consecutive Premier League home games. The 6ft 5in tall Terminator has scored a staggering 17 goals this season – 14 in the prem.

More than 14 TEAMS did it!

City led 4-0 in the first half after a rampage and then 6-1 before two late goals from Anthony Martial United earned some respect.

It was 22-year-old Haaland’s first Manchester derby.

He added: “I felt a little bit before the game that something special was going to happen and we saw today that some special things happened. It was nice.

“On Friday I felt it all over the training ground. It’s these games that I want to play. These are the best games where there is a little bit more.”

City boss Pep Guardiola praised Haaland as a born killer but refused to credit his amazing start.

He said: “When he’s attacking the penalty area, the way he moves out of the action behind the centre-back, he has incredible instincts that the ball is going to get there.

“It comes from his mother and father. He was born with it and it’s just supposed to help him score more goals.

“He came and said, ‘Oh, these guys, my buddies, run like animals and I have to do the same.’

“Obviously the quality we have at his side helps him score goals. But I never once taught him what he did.”

Guardiola, who has worked with Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and City’s record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, warned Haaland things will only get better.

He added: “I’ve had incredible center forwards in my career. What I like about the final stages of this game is that he’s involved.

“He said, ‘I prefer to touch the ball five times and score five goals.’ We have this incredible feeling that he always looks hungry and is so competitive. The numbers are frightening.”

Homegrown hero Foden scored the first hat-trick of his City career as both players took home their own cue ball.

England star Foden, also 22, said: “It’s a dream come true to play in a derby and also be a City fan. It was a pleasure to be part of this team.”
