Erling Haaland at center of £50m boot war as Puma and Adidas battle unsigned star after Nike deal ends

ERLING HAALAND’s move to Manchester City has sparked a £50m boot war.
The Norwegian’s £1million-a-year deal with Nike ended earlier this season and he decided to keep his options open until he switched clubs.

Haaland is set to earn £375,000-a-week with City but will significantly increase that number through endorsements this summer.
Puma, who already sponsor City’s kits for £65m a year, are reportedly in a bidding war with rivals Adidas to sign the 21-year-old star.
Both German shoe companies want to retain him for the next decade.
The notoriety of playing in the Premier League will boost Haaland’s earning potential, with offers worth £5million a year being discussed.
Haaland ended his BVB career with a goal and previously received an honor guard in his team’s 2-1 home win over Hertha Berlin.
He later posted an emotional video on social media thanking the Dortmund fans for their support.
In the video Haaland called: “Dear BVB fans, I had unforgettable years in Dortmund.
“Thanks for the great support, you will always have a place in my heart. All the best to you all.”

Another social media post read: “It was nothing but an honor to wear this jersey.
“I spent unforgettable moments at BVB, met special people, not to mention a fan base that was always our extra man on the pitch.
“The Yellow Wall is really incredible. I will never forget that!”
Haaland scored 86 goals in 89 games during his time in Germany.
He will officially join Man City on July 1.
