MANCHESTER UNITED leadership target Erik ten Hag is reportedly shocked he has not been offered a contract after promising talks.

Ten Hag, 52, met with Man Utd bosses last week to discuss becoming their new manager, replacing interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

And according to the Mirror, United bosses have been impressed with Ten Hag’s focus on the project at hand, rather than discussing contract numbers.

The highly rated Ajax comes from a wealthy background, so money isn’t an issue.

Ten Hag has a stake in both his family business and his earnings from football.

But after impressing with his vision for Man Utd, the Dutchman was left stunned when United failed to open contract talks.

The report went on to say United would like to speak to other candidates before putting any money on the table.

United have a long-term stake in Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino.

And with his job in the French capital under threat, a deal is more than possible for the Argentine.
