ENGLAND footballers’ wives and girlfriends have been approached to star in a £1million Netflix documentary to be filmed during the World Cup.
Optomen TV has asked several wags to join the show ahead of the tournament – a move that could affect England boss Gareth Southgate.
Cameras will accompany them in their everyday lives, reconciling family, professional commitments and the needs of their partner.
It will also accompany them during their World Cup stay in Qatar in November and December.
Those who have been approached include former Love Island winner Dani Dyer, who is dating Jarrod Bowen, Jack Grealish’s model lover Sasha Attwood and Luke Shaw’s wife Anouska Santos.
TV producers are hoping for a repeat of the real-life drama at the 2006 World Cup, when the high-profile partners took center stage in Baden-Baden, Germany.
A source said: “The proposed docu-series would showcase the luxurious lifestyles of these women while supporting their other halves in the run-up to the World Cup.
“There is a lot of interest in them again as England prepare for the tournament.
“Instead of the desired women, there is a wish list. Very high fees are offered.
“However, it is certain that Gareth Southgate would strongly disapprove of any wife or girlfriend signing up for this as it would be a huge distraction for him and the players.”
The Sun on Sunday has reached out to Optomen TV and Netflix for comment.
The FA declined to comment.
