However, Luke Shaw’s two yellow cards in 54 seconds were a minor blemish in a legendary win in Naples.

Gareth Southgate will be confident his side are still more than capable of beating upcoming opponents Ukraine.

However, Ruslan Rotan’s team is in good form, having lost just one of their last six games.

They also have players with plenty of Premier League know-how, including £97m Chelsea star Mykhalo Mudyrk.

Ukraine are led by Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who may be one of the few players in world football to manage to quiet team-mate Bukayo Saka.

How is Ukraine doing?

Ukraine have lost just one game since losing to Wales in the World Cup play-offs last June.

However, Scotland managed a 3-0 win while Ukraine have beaten Armenia twice and the Republic of Ireland since missing out on Qatar.

They haven’t played since September’s 0-0 draw with Scotland, so things might be a little rusty.

What’s new from the team?

Gareth Southgate is without Luke Shaw as the full-back faces a suspension following his red card against Italy.

And the England manager could be forced to give young talisman Jude Bellingham a rest after he hobbled off the field late with a suspected knee injury.

Ukraine are also without Bournemouth centre-back Ilya Zabamyi and Oleksandr Zubkov.

However, Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is ready to start at Wembley, while Mykhailo Mudryk is likely to be used in attack.

Mudryk provides electric pace up front so Ben Chilwell or Kieran Trippier will need to be on the ball if picked to replace the suspended Shaw.

Kane will be the dangerous man for England and will be full of confidence after becoming a record goalscorer.

What did the managers say?

Rotan said: “This is not just a game of players and coaches, it is a game of the whole country.

“I want to thank the people of Britain for supporting us in the war our country is waging against the enemy. Everyone’s support is very important to us.

“We are very grateful to you for them. I believe this is also a match for our warriors. What is happening in Ukraine now is very scary.

“We have to be motivated to please them both with the game and with the result, to instill emotions that our people are missing now.

“Our guys who play in the Premier League are very emotional people who always support the country in every way.

“They are highly motivated, they are the leaders of the national team, a role model for our young boys, for all the people and athletes who bring out the best in them. We should have more players like that.”

Southgate sent his side a warning after beating Italy, saying: “We need to get a result now at Wembley because it will be a fantastic result if we win and that’s what we said to the players straight after the game.

“Then they can go wherever they want on Monday, but it will be difficult because Ukraine didn’t have a competitive game [on Thursday].

“If we can play like we did in the first half then the fans will definitely enjoy it, but we’re going to play against a very good team and we have to get that right.”
