He suffered from the ‘impact problem’ in the first test against the West Indies.

And he was recorded rambling brilliantly in utter gibberish after waking up from the surgery that removed bone and scar tissue.

The Geordie Funnyman then posted the self-deprecating clips to his Instagram page alongside a snap at London’s Harley Street Specialist Hospital, writing: “Who says hospital gowns ain’t cool eh!!??

“No more bone fragments in my arm! Thank you to Professor Roger van Riet and Mr Ali Noorani for sorting me out and to all the staff for making me feel completely at ease.

“Langers, the English physiotherapist filmed me coming out of anesthesia – Bah, I’m talking absolute nonsense!!!”

And he’s not wrong.

Wood, half asleep and barely waking up in his bed after being put on for the operation, said: “I’m so cold. Is my arm still attached? Did they cut off my arm?

“I feel better, what happened? I feel good.

“Is my shoulder supposed to be sore? That’s funny. I had elbow surgery but my shoulders hurt. However. I’ll still bowl fast.”

Wood also told his nurse that “Northern boys love gravy and Bovril” when offered a cup of tea, before urging everyone to “shake their legs like Elvis Pressley”.

And as he was being wheeled down a corridor, the 32-year-old Durham speed king asked the nurse: ‘I wasn’t worried, was I? was i ok

“I have a cold. Ibiza has a cold. I’ve never been to Ibiza.”

Wood is expected to be out of action until May when he recovers – and is in doubt for the England Test series against New Zealand in June.

This is Joe Root’s side’s first match since losing 10-wicket in Grenada.

The recovery also rules Wood out of this year’s Indian Premier League after agreeing a £735,000 deal to represent the Lucknow Super Giants.

When asked if he was looking forward to coming back in 2023, the mumbling father-of-one replied: “I’m so sad. not [playing] this time.

“I like Andy Flower. He is a nice guy. Keyhole. Bowen gone? Lollipop, lollipop.”
