Harry Kane and company failed to carve out any significant chances against the Euro 2020 winners.

And it was the third straight Nations League game without a win for Gareth Southgate’s lackluster side.

But some fans believe England would have won last night had Grennan led the line.

The musician showed his electric speed when England lost 4-1 on penalties to the rest of the world at Soccer Aid.

Grennan sped past two defenders before finding himself one-on-one with opposing goalkeeper Tom Stoltman – the strongest man in the world for the past two years.

Grennan weighed his options before slipping the ball under the Behemoth stopper.

And fans took to Twitter wondering if Grennan could make it into England’s next squad.

One person explained: “We probably would have beaten Italy if we had started with Tom Grennan up front last night.”

Another wrote: “Add Tom Grennan to the England squad, he probably would have scored against Italy.”

One remarked: “That was more entertaining than the England Italy game yesterday.”

Another added: “This England team in Soccer Aid is far better than the England team that played Italy last night.”

It was the rest of the world who took the lead after 20 minutes as Chunkz brought down Patrice Evra.

Noah Beck converted the penalty calmly.

But England equalized just before half-time when Chunkz won a penalty at the other end.

Mark Wright scored his goal well before Grennan gave England the lead just moments into the second half.

But Kem Cetinay made it 2-2 with half an hour to go to equalize for the rest of the world.

In the remaining time, neither side could find a winner.

And then it came to penalties and Grennan’s joy turned to misery when he missed England’s first try.

Russell Howard also caused a stir as Lee Mack scored the winner from the penalty spot to make it 4-1 for the rest of the world.
