HARRY KANE feels he is in a “great place” at Tottenham after celebrating ten years since his Premier League debut.

A decade ago on Thursday, the then-teenager in the number 37 jersey came off the bench for the final four minutes of Spurs’ 2-1 defeat at Newcastle.

What followed was one of the greatest careers in modern top-flight history, with Kane scoring 184 goals in just 281 games.

He has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot award no fewer than three times and has his sights set on Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260 goals.

But despite all the personal accolades, the England captain is still one trophy missing, which was a key factor in his move to Manchester City last summer.

Still, he now appears content Spurs are playing under Antonio Conte, with the possibility of a new contract in sight.

Kane, now synonymous with Tottenham’s No 10, said: “I feel comfortable, I feel in a great place physically and mentally.

“I think we have a really good squad, we have a fantastic coach.

“We’ve been moving in the right direction from the end of last year until now. I’m really excited for what’s to come.

“We know it’s going to be a long season with the World Cup right in the middle. It will definitely be a marathon this year. I look forward to it.

“I’m excited about what we can achieve and I know if we can keep improving we can have a really good season.”

Kane has been strengthened by the seven new faces Tottenham have recruited this summer.

Looking sharp and focused in a productive preseason, he scored his first goal of the season with a dramatic equalizer in the sixth minute of added time to make it 2-2 at Chelsea on Sunday.

Conte welcomed the centre-forward as the first player in the Spurs squad to embark on his methods ahead of the season opener against Southampton.

And the Italian praised Kane for setting a good example for the rest of his squad as he discussed the striker’s ten-year milestone ahead of Wolves’ hosts on Saturday.

Conte added: “For sure he’s one of the best strikers I’ve had in my coaching career.

“The quality that struck me about Harry is that he has great talent, he’s a number nine but at the same time can become a number 10 during the game.

“But what I love about him is the desire, the will to work and be a good example for his teammates.

“I really appreciate that, I love to see a player, a world-class striker, as a good example.

“Because when you have that kind of example, it’s easier for you to work with the other players.”

Meanwhile, Conte confirmed that key defender Cristian Romero will miss Wolves’ game with an adductor problem.

However, there was positive news from Oliver Skipp, who suffered a terrible foot injury in a training accident before the start of the season, which had to be stitched up.

The England U21 midfielder, who was sidelined in the second half of last season with a pelvic problem, has been eliminated from the Wolves clash but is expected to start running again on Friday.

Conte added: “I hope this player has a bit of luck because he has been struggling since January. But I think hopefully it will be finished soon.

“We need his performance, he’s a really good guy and he certainly suffers a lot from being left out but I think for the period when we have to play a lot of games he will be available which is really good news for are us.”
