The Three Lions have failed to end their miserable form in this competition.

Gareth Southgate’s side looked good in the first half with Declan Rice, James Ward-Prowse and Mason Mount in midfield, but the intensity dropped massively after the break.

The approach was very negative as too many passes were sent backwards – this gave Italy plenty of time to strengthen their defensive unit by getting everyone behind the ball.

England remain bottom of the table and from today’s perspective will be relegated to League B if they don’t manage to turn things around soon.
