‘Employee’ demolishes luxury homes with excavator to take revenge for being ‘fired’

Shocked local residents caught the demolition on camera as police later rushed to the scene at the Pride of Rosseau Marina in Muskoka Lakes.
A 59-year-old man, believed to be a former employee at the property, has been charged with mischief in connection with the incident.
He has also been fined £3,200 and is due to appear in court at a later date.

The clip, filmed by a local witness on July 21, showed the excavator in full action as it relentlessly ripped through the second floor of a Pride Marine Group building.
The user wrote: “You can’t make that up. A disgruntled, fired employee at a marina near our lake home broke up and destroyed the entire marina with an excavator.”
Geordie Newlands, owner of SWS Muskoka, which operates marinas in the area, called the incident shocking.
He confirmed that more than one building was damaged and estimated the repair cost could be in the millions.
“Thankfully no one was hurt, which is good,” he told the Calgary Herald.
“It was almost surreal what happened. That something like this happens is like a fiction.”
“It’s a small community up here and it’s pretty devastating.”
Without citing details, Newlands suggested local boat companies had been pressured by the ongoing impact of the pandemic – leading to layoffs.
He could not confirm if boats were damaged in the incident.
A popular summer vacation spot for wealthy locals, the Pride of Rosseau Marina has several luxury homes and expensive boats.
Some properties in the area are reportedly listed for more than £8million.
