Emma Raducanu thrashed in the Billie Jean King Cup playoffs while the Brit suffers painful foot blisters in a nasty defeat

EMMA RADUCANU was beaten up in the cold in Prague after suffering a blistered foot during the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs.
As the temperature dropped to six degrees, the British No. 1 was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Czech star Marketa Vondrousova in 62 minutes on the second day of this clash at Cesky Lawn Tennis Club.

Raducanu – who wore leggings because of the cold – was broken seven times and hit four double faults as she suffered one of her quickest losses in pro.
After losing the first set in 26 minutes, Raducanu took a medical time-out and went backstage for treatment.
The LTA confirmed it was a foot blister and her absence from court only annoyed Vondrousova, who eventually went to the dressing room to keep warm.
Raducanu didn’t move freely and often grimaced when playing the second set.
Vondrousova, who broke British hearts when she beat Jo Konta en route to the French Open final in 2019, beat Harriet Dart on Friday and gave the US Open champion a reality check here.
This means that the Czechs are now 2-1 ahead and only need to win one of their two remaining games to achieve that draw on aggregate and advance to the finals, which will take place in November.
It’s fair to say that this is the coldest environment Raducanu has played a professional match in and while the blister will eventually heal, it’s another physical issue she’s had to settle for on the pitch.
