Part 2 of “Emily in Paris” dropped on Netflix on December 21. The streaming service has yet to renew the show for a 3rd season. Season 2, however, didn’t get the official green light until November, more than a month after the series movie ‘October 2, 2020, out. Based on The Hollywood Reporter, Nielsen Corporation reported that Netflix subscribers consumed Season 1 of “Emily in Paris” as a delectable French pastry, watching “more than 676 million minutes of the film in its first week of release.”
However, critics were less than enthusiastic about the film. “Emily in Paris” certified (not so) just arrived Rotten Tomatoes with an approval rate of 58% at the time of writing. As the reviews suggest, Star’s vision of Paris can be as meaningless as an advertisement for a perfume produced by Antoine Lambert (William Abadie). Still, it’s hard to deny how “Emily in Paris” is a pinnacle guilty pleasure.
The show received another blow from critics when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awarded it two Golden Globe nominations in 2021, beyond the critically acclaimed “I May Destroy You” (via around the world), but until 2021 Emmy A nod to the stand-up comedy series and its popularity among Netflix viewers could provide ample incentive for streamers to renew it for Season 3. Don’t expect to see a potential 3rd season anytime soon. until the fall of 2022.
