Elon Musk says his humanoid ‘Optimus’ robot can outsell Tesla cars

BILLIONAIRE CEO Elon Musk says his Tesla humanoid robot could outsell the company’s vehicles.

Elon Musk revealed that Tesla’s Humanoid robots could be the most important product the company is developing in 2022.

“In terms of product priorities, I think really the most important product development we’re doing this year is the humanoid robot Optimus,” Musk said Wednesday at Q4 earnings results. Tesla’s 2021.

The unreleased product is being created with the intention of acting as a general-purpose robot that can perform everyday tasks, such as grocery shopping at the supermarket.

The Tesla CEO has announced that a working prototype of the bot will be revealed at some point this year.

Last year, at Tesla AI Day, Musk stated that “in the future, physical work will be an option. If you want to, you can, but you won’t have to.”

He added that since Tesla cars are essentially “semi-sentence robots on wheels,” it makes a lot of sense for the company to develop an AI bot on a daily basis.

According to Musk, the 173cm (5’8″) “friendly” bot will be equipped with several cameras, sensors and self-driving software.

The Optimus robot will also be able to travel at 5mph and carry 20kg.

And to be safe, the billionaire assures that the humanoid will be placed on a mechanical and physical level so that people can easily escape and tame it.

“Hopefully that never happens, but you never know,” Musk said.

Tesla’s Director of Artificial Intelligence, Andrej Karpathy, added that he believes the Tesla Bot is “on track to become the most powerful AI development platform.”

If Musk’s predictions for Tesla cars to sell better come to fruition, that would push the company’s growth, which already broke sales records in 2021, to sublime levels.
