ELLEN Degeneres’ ex Anne Heche has been hospitalized after a violent car accident with “severe burns”.
The actress crashed her vehicle into a house on Friday in a horrific event that resulted in an explosive fire.
Anne, 53, was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles on Friday, August 5 and was carried away on a stretcher by an ambulance.
The crash happened “just after noon in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles,” TMZ reported.
She was driving a blue BMW Mini Cooper and crashed into an apartment complex garage.
Witnesses told the outlet that residents of the apartment complex tried to get her out of the vehicle.
But the star put the car in reverse and then drove off again.
She then crashed into a nearby house, igniting flames, per TMZ
The fire “was substantial and engulfed the house.”
According to TMZ, Anne “suffered burns in the fire” and her clothes were “charred” when she was taken away on the stretcher.
She was “covered with a white sheet” and beaten while being taken to the ambulance.
In a photo obtained by TMZ, a clear glass bottle with a red cap can be seen next to the gearshift where Anne’s hand is resting.
Although it’s not clear exactly what type of bottle it is, the outlet claimed it appeared to be alcohol.
The extent of her injuries is not known at this time and she is reportedly being intubated in hospital, but her life is not in danger.
Her current condition has prevented doctors from seeing if she was driving under the influence, according to TMZ.
The US Sun has reached out to Anne’s rep for comment.
ANNE & ELLEN DEGENERES
She and Ellen dated for three years from 1997 to 2000 and were one of the first openly gay couples in the mainstream.
They reportedly discussed entering into a civil partnership in hopes that it would become legal.
They parted ways amicably and made the announcement together.
A day after the announcement, Anne appeared at a stranger’s front door and asked to use the shower and wear slippers.
The homeowner let them in and shower and then called the authorities.
Anne’s notable films include Six Days, Seven Nights, Donnie Brasco and the remake of Psycho.
When Anne went public with Ellen, Six Days fired her.
However, Harrison Ford, her co-star, struggled in her corner, reportedly saying, “Honestly my love I don’t give a shit who you fuck, we gotta make a movie. Let’s make it the best ever.”
The island-based rom-com eventually made it to theaters, starring her and Harrison.
Her TV credits include: Blackout, Save Me, Hung and Men in Trees.
She won a 1991 Daytime Emmy Award for her role in Another World, a drama series.
Ann goes on
After Anne broke up with Ellen, she began a relationship with Coleman Laffoon, a cameraman she met while dating Ellen.
They married and had a child named Homer in 2002.
After five years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce and Anne began seeing James Tupper, her co-star in Men In Trees.
In 2009, they had a son together named Atlas.
James and Anne split in 2018 and they haven’t been in a serious public relationship since.
Anne accused James of once locking her out of her LA home with her son, according to Radar Online.
James clapped back and hinted in court – all amid a custody battle over their son – that “drug use” was at play on her side.
She participated in Dancing With the Stars in 2020.
