EIGHT teenage girls have been accused of stabbing a homeless man after they “swarmed” him outside a train station.

The teenagers, aged between 13 and 16, are said to have met on social media before setting out to attack the 59-year-old in a square near the main train station in Toronto, Canada.

Police believe the girls attacked and stabbed the man in the area of ​​York Street and University Avenue early Sunday morning to steal a bottle of alcohol.

The man, known as “Kenney,” was taken to the hospital where he died, reports CTV News Toronto.

The eight girls were arrested near the scene of the crime.

Three of them are 13 years old, three are 14 and two are 16 years old.

Police described the victim as a supportive family, but he recently moved into the city’s homeless shelter system after experiencing “some bad luck”.

A resident of the building, Ken Webber, confirmed that the man was sitting in a seat with his friend at the time of the attack.

He said: “They were sitting on a bench, sipping schnapps… and smoking a cigarette.

“I saw the aftermath of the attack.

“I saw six women, probably in their late 20s, early 30s, standing outside the stairwell of Union Station, arguing, yelling, and yelling.”

Another witness, Roberto Sanchez, described Kenney as a “kind and generous” person.

He said: “He was a good-hearted person. Everyone has their problems. But all in all I didn’t see him as a threat to anyone.

“For these youngsters who are doing this to him – it’s heartbreaking. I can not believe it”,

Detective Sgt. Terry Browne of the Toronto Police Service Homicide Squad said: “I’ve been in the force for almost 35 years and you think you’ve seen it all.

“Anyone who isn’t shocked to hear something like this has clearly thrown in the towel and said anything is possible in this world.

“Eight young girls and most under 16.

“If this isn’t alarming and shocking to everyone, then frankly we’re all in trouble.”

He added that anyone who witnessed the incident that night should contact the police.

The youths have appeared in court for the first time and remain in custody.
