EIGHT models were gang raped while filming a music video after men in balaclavas suddenly appeared on set and fired shots in the air.

The girls tried to run away but were stopped by a volley of gunfire fired into the air by a gang.

The models were then forced to lie down as 10 more men in balaclavas appeared out of nowhere.

The gang took their cellphones, jewelry, bags, cash and film equipment before taking one model after another into an undergrowth and raping each of them ten times.

The group was raped 32 times before South African police showed up and were involved in a shootout that killed two miners and injured another, according to the Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit. The other 17 managed to escape.

Police officers arrested 65 other illegal miners in the area after a manhunt for the gang rapists.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridil said the crew of 22 – 12 women and 10 men – were filming a music video when they were attacked by a group of armed men carrying blankets.

The models are believed to be from nearby Johannesburg and were hired for the day.

Police officers recovered unlicensed firearms, explosives and items belonging to victims during a stabbing but have not yet identified all 17 men who escaped.

Police Minister Bheki Cele announced that three men had been arrested and that officers were conducting searches in nearby villages.

Meanwhile, the girls’ parents were ordered to evict and pick up their daughters.

The minister said: “The operation will continue until all suspects are found and the response will be serious to show the state that our protection of young women is clear.
