EDINSON CAVANI is on the verge of a move to Real Sociedad when his contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season.
Cavani, 35, has plenty of offers if he opts for an 18-month stay that has made him a cult figure at Old Trafford.
Inter Milan are interested in a potential replacement for Red Devils flop Alexis Sanchez.
Meanwhile, River Plate wants to offer him a way back to South America.
The Argentinian team appeared to be front runners for the Uruguayan striker until Sociedad stepped in.
Sources close to Cavani say he has already had initial talks and would rather play in Spain.
Cavani has struggled for United this season after scoring 17 goals in his inaugural year in England.
After the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in the theater of dreams, his playing time was limited.
He has made just 17 appearances this season, recording just two goals and one assist.
Cavani’s compatriot and former United forward Diego Forlan believes the ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace hasn’t been used enough this season.

He said: “I think at United he would have scored many, many important goals for the club if he had had the opportunity to play a lot of games in a row.
“He did that last season if you remember. In the end he played a lot of games before the Europa League final.
“And you could see from that how many people were behind him, players and how he took the team to the next level.
“Why? Because he played most of the games. This season he started injured and then didn’t play for one reason or another that I don’t know.”
Before adding: “He’s never played two or three games in a row and it’s difficult for a player to perform well if he doesn’t have a lot of games.”
