Drivers are only just realizing there’s an easy move to get parking tickets 100% canceled – & it costs only half as much

CITY officials have found a new way to allow drivers to cancel their traffic tickets while benefiting local schools.
At the Parking Tickets for School Supplies fundraiser in Tuscaloosa, Alabama — about an hour southwest of Birmingham — drivers buy just $10 worth of products for every $18 they owe on a ticket.

The Tuscaloosa Court Administration canceled traffic tickets for locals in exchange for school supply donations that were donated throughout the month of August.
Every year hundreds of tickets are canceled and local schools are inundated with donated materials.
This year, 113 tickets were canceled, but over 400 school supplies were collected from donors.
“For every $18 ticket there was $10 worth of supplies,” Tuscaloosa Court Administrator Jessica Junkin told WBRC-TV.

“They were willing to help the kids and we had a lot of donations that weren’t even tied to the tickets, so everyone just wanted to help out in any way they could.”
After all the materials were collected, the city courts let the school board decide who received the donated items.
Backpacks, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners and calculators were popular items distributed to students.
Tuscaloosa isn’t the only American city launching these initiatives.
Las Vegas, Nevada hosts a school supplies for tickets program during the summer.
The city issued tickets in exchange for donated school supplies that either matched or exceeded the value of the ticket.
Greensboro, North Carolina also has its own version of the same event, with tickets ranging from $15 to $250.
As long as the violation was discovered within 30 days of the event and the donation was at least equal to the original fine, the ticket could be pardoned through the month of August.
However, handicap violations were the only exception to the rule.
An event is taking place in Lawrence, Kansas, pardoning $50 in traffic tickets with $15 worth of donated school supplies and encouraging locals to support their local schools.
