Drivers are just realizing there’s a ‘full blast’ trick to quickly cool down an overheating engine – but it feels wrong

A LIFE hack guru has explained why turning on the AC at full blast is the opposite of what you want when your car’s engine is overheating, without having highlighted the correct step.
Bella filmed and uploaded her advice to TikTok, where her account has 18.5 million followers.

Bella’s (@onlyjayus) video clip begins with her recommending shutting down an overheated engine whenever possible.
However, if you need to keep the engine on to continue driving a short distance, her other suggestion may help.
The TikTok creator has said that since the interior of your car draws heat from the engine, you should crank the heater up to circulate warm air through your interior to cool the engine.
This seemingly counter-intuitive step works because your vehicle’s heating system does not produce any additional heat when active.

Instead, it extracts the heat your car’s engine naturally generates when it’s running and directs the warm air into your cabin, reports Hansma Automotive.
Opening all of your vehicle’s windows, including a sunroof if necessary, while performing Bella’s trick will help extra heat escape from your car.
It’s important to only use Bella’s trick as a short-term fix, as an overheated motor can cause permanent damage if left on for too long.
Engine coolant plays a crucial role in a car’s cooling system. So if your vehicle is struggling with an overheated engine, it may be low on this fluid.
Coolant absorbs and dissipates the excess heat generated by the engine, preventing the engine from overheating.
A temperature gauge on your dashboard lets you know when your engine is overheating.
When you see this icon, you can turn off your car’s engine and open the hood to find the cooling tank with radiator cap.
In general, you must wait at least 30 minutes after stopping the engine to remove this radiator cap; Otherwise you will probably burn yourself.
Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual to find out where your refrigerated container is located.
This container has two marks on the side; one full and the other low.
If your car is running low on coolant, remove the radiator cap and use a funnel to completely fill the coolant tank.
