To add a bit to the stress that comes with parking — or getting out of a parking spot — Brother Che (@chegeceping) recently shared several hacks in a video on TikTok.

The video begins with a re-enactment of an inexperienced driver hitting another car while pulling out at the curb.

Since the driver is a beginner, Brother Che swears that his tricks will ensure a similar accident doesn’t happen again.

The first trick to remember when parking is when a driver pulls straight out of a regular parking space and there are cars on either side of the vehicle.

To make sure your car doesn’t collide with another car on the side when turning, TikToker says you should keep your shoulders in line with the front of the car left or right.

If you pull straight out of the parking space up to this point, there will be enough space on the sides to then pull out of the parking space in both directions.

When backing out of a parking space with cars on either side, consider a similar tip.

Brother Che explained that one should keep the “ears of the car”—the side mirrors—in line with the back or front of the car next to it, whichever is at the end of the parking space.

“No matter which way you turn, the car next to it won’t get scratched!” he said.

The third trick is perfect when parking at the curb behind or in front of another vehicle.

The driving expert revealed that the most important thing is that the hood of your car is in line with the front or rear bumps of the other car.

Motorists can tell they’ve come to the right spot when the other car’s bumper is completely covered by the hood of their own car.

This should leave about a meter (3.28 feet) of space between the two vehicles.

If the driver maintains this distance, he should be able to drive out of the parking space safely with the steering wheel fully turned.

Before you drive, you must consider that the size of the cars and their hoods or bumpers can vary from vehicle to vehicle.

Be sure to find out if your car needs more or less space when parked before following these tips.
