In a recent video posted by Michael (michaelrj10), he gave viewers important safety tips.

The creator captioned the clip: “If someone puts a coin in the car door handle, call the police immediately.”

In the Instagram video, the user said that thieves often use this method to open and steal your car or even your items inside.

“This trick is common as thieves usually place the coin on the back door on the passenger side,” the auto expert’s post said.

Apparently this is a trick that a driver wouldn’t immediately notice if they got into the car and turned it on normally.

“And when you reach your destination, the door won’t close with the coin,” the video says.

“Thieves can take advantage of this moment to break in and steal your belongings or even steal the car.”

There are ways to counteract this method of car theft.

“It is recommended to always check the doors before using the car and remove any suspicious coins,” the clip states.

“It is also recommended that you do not leave any valuables visible in the car.”

The post was viewed more than 800,000 times.

“I [used] “I want a hood lock on my car,” one user commented.

“No one could steal this car unless they tow it!” It’s good to have both a hood lock and an alarm.”
