Drivers are just realizing holding down a hidden button for one second unlocks secret extra feature essential to moving

DRIVERS are now realizing that there is a secret button on their keys that is important when the battery is dead.

Everyone knows the feeling when you notice that the battery in your key fob is getting low, but you leave it for a while instead of changing it immediately.

For those who never get around to it and are surprised when they can no longer get into their vehicle, you should know about the hidden button hack.

TikToker Tom Iconic (@tomiconic) is a car enthusiast who loves sharing tips and tricks on social media.

In one of his videos, Tom reveals how a hidden button can unlock an important function if your key fob’s battery is dead.

He calls it the “car tip some people didn’t know.”

Tom drives a Ford, which, like most modern vehicles, is powered, locked and unlocked via a key fob.

“If you have one of these keys and the battery dies, you can still get in your car,” he told viewers.

“I don’t know why a lot of people don’t know this, but sometimes on the outside of the key… you press the button on the side and you see this little groove? We take it off and there is a spare key.” “

He added: “You just take it out, come to your car, put it in” and the door opens.

Some viewers were surprised by the hidden key, while others said the TikToker missed another trick that works like “magic.”

“Oh my God, if only I knew this four months ago,” one viewer said.

However, other viewers claimed: “If you don’t know this, you shouldn’t be driving” and “I found this out when I was five years old and playing with my mom’s car keys.”

“There are a lot of people who don’t know much about car keys. Trust me, I work on car key programming,” replied a car expert.

However, while performing his trick, Tom overlooked another trick that “saves your fingers” when you manually unlock the door with the key.

One viewer said: “And you clearly don’t know that the pendant is used to rotate the blade to save your fingers!”

Once the driver finds the hidden key, he doesn’t just have to use the metal part to open the door.

Instead, the compartment in the fob that holds the key can hold the metal part outward, making it look like a traditional car key.

“Use the pendant to transform it…magically too,” said one viewer.

However, some asked, “How would you start the car if it had a push starter?”

Some manufacturers install a backup system to ensure the car can start even if the trailer breaks down.

All the driver has to do is put the hidden key back into the fob and instead of pressing the push button with his fingers, press the fob against the button.

Meanwhile, other cars have a spare key slot for the fob.

This is described in detail in the driver’s manual as it can be found in the cup holder on some Ford models and you can then press the start button as normal.

If neither works, you probably have a physical key slot in the steering column for the hidden key to start the vehicle.
