Dramatic moment Shock waves rip through the air after a horrific Russian vacuum bombing raid in Ukraine

This is the terrifying moment when shock waves ripple through the air after Russia launched a vacuum bombing raid on Ukraine.
Dramatic footage shows a series of explosions as Russian forces launch an offensive on Ukrainian positions in the Novomykhailivka area of eastern Ukraine.

Russian forces reportedly used TOS-1A thermobaric MLRS rocket launchers in the attack.
When the explosions go off, shock waves can clearly be seen rippling through the air.
Footage then shows the devastation caused by the vacuum bombs, with buildings appearing to have been completely leveled and reduced to rubble.
Thermobaric or vacuum bombs are particularly deadly as they can detonate the lungs of enemy troops.

The deadly weapons are banned under the Geneva Convention and their use is likely to be considered a war crime.
The cataclysmic weapons are among the most powerful non-nuclear weapons ever developed.
Thermobaric weapons, formerly known as fuel-air explosives, were originally developed by the Nazis during World War II and first used by the US in Vietnam.
They disperse fine carbon metal particles in the air before igniting them.
Due to the large area of the ignited particles, the explosion sucks oxygen from the environment, which is why it is called a vacuum bomb.
The bombs cause an enormous explosion, first by “sucking in” before an explosion. The explosions usually bring with them a shockwave that deals tremendous damage.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has been accused of using the illegal weapon when he invaded Ukraine.
Shortly after the war began, reports surfaced that vacuum bombs had been stationed near the city of Kharkiv.
A vacuum bomb was reportedly dropped on an oil depot, local officials claimed.
The city’s mayor, Pavel Kuzmenko, claimed in a video message that a vacuum bomb had been dropped on an oil depot.

“A vacuum bomb was dropped on an oil storage facility, containers with oil were ripped off,” he said.
“The enemy is vilely using vacuum bombs, which are banned by the Geneva Convention.”
Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Oksana Markarova has claimed that Russia also used a vacuum bomb in Okhtyrka.
The bomb destroyed a Ukrainian army base and killed 70 soldiers, Sumy region chief of administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyy said on his Telegram channel.
Earlier, Ukrainians claimed to have found parts of a vacuum bomb in Okhtyrka, 42 miles south of Sumy.
In March, footage emerged of a TOS-1A weapon system firing a barrage of missiles at the besieged city of Mariupol.
The clip shows the deadly weapons being fired at the targets, starting a fire around them.
Earlier this month, the UK Ministry of Defense confirmed that the TOS-1A weapon system had been deployed.
