THIS is the dramatic moment a runaway truck went off the road, smashing everything in its path before plowing through a busy intersection.

Shocking footage shows the B-Double truck crashing into a footpath, trees and a street sign, ripping out a lamppost and crashing into a bus stop after the driver passed out behind the wheel.

Dramatic video shows the vehicle traveling down Hamstead Road in Manningham, Adelaide, slowly drifting onto the cycle lane just after 10am on Tuesday.

It can then be seen obliterating trees, fences, poles and a bus stop before coming to a halt

It finally came to a stop in a line of hedges just a few yards from a house.

Another driver, Paul Brackley, who caught the incident on his dashcam, told 9News: “He totally lost control and he came into me so I put my foot on the accelerator to get away.

“And then he started crashing into things, and then I immediately stopped, and then I ran back and helped the guy out of the truck.”

The truck driver, a 31-year-old from NSW, was slumped in the front seat when Brackley came to help.

“He had blood on his face but other than that he looked fine,” he said.

The man explained that he passed out while driving and was later taken to the hospital.

Crime scene photos show the trail of destruction left in its wake by the truck, with its windshield completely shattered.

Brackley said: “The truck was making a bang when I got there and I thought could it explode? Or what could happen?”

He added it was a “miracle” that no one was killed in the incident, as the truck crashed through a residential area.

It comes as a driver was plowed into a crowd at a crowded junction, leaving five people dead and at least 13 injured last month.
