The decision is made because Dr. Phil’s most recent contract is coming to an end.
In 2018, the show was renewed for five seasons as part of a contract extension with CBS Television Distribution.
“I’ve been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television,” said Dr. Phil
“Through this show, we’ve helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellbeing and parenting.

“This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but as I move from day to day there is so much more I want to do.”
This comes as shockwaves swept the daytime talk show landscape with The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Wendy Williams Show, Maury, Dr. Oz and The Real, all of which ended last year.
For the 2023-2024 season and beyond, content will continue to be delivered in the form of library episodes with wrap-arounds and intros by Dr. Phil provided.
Guest updates are also created.

dr Phil’s television career began on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the late ’90s before receiving his own spin-off, which was produced by Harpo Studios.
Launching in 2002, the program was a hit, ranking second to Oprah in the ratings.
dr Phil eventually took the number one spot after Oprah ended in 2011, making the show the most-watched syndicated talk show of the past decade before eventually falling behind Live With Kelly & Ryan.
Regarding future plans, Dr. Phil says he wants to focus on primetime programming with a new partnership and is targeting an early 2024 launch.
“I am compelled to engage with a wider audience because of my deep concerns for the American family, and I am committed to helping restore purpose and our core values,” he said.
During the show’s 21 seasons, Dr. Phil has 31 Emmy nominations and won five PRISM Awards for accurate portrayal of drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse and addiction, and a Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Media Award.
FAMOUS GUESTS
Perhaps one of his most famous interviews was with a then 13-year-old Danielle Bregoli, better known as Bhad Bhabie.
Bregoli rose to fame on an episode of the show in 2016 after being brought onto the program by her mother, Barbara Ann.
Barbara revealed that her child would run away and steal her credit cards four times in one day.
As her life was exposed on camera, Bregoli became annoyed with viewers who laughed at her.
She famously addressed the audience and said, “Catch me outside, how about that?”
But because of her accent, it sounded a lot more like, “Cash me ousside, how bow dah?”
This has become her signature catchphrase — and a meme that has gone viral across the internet.
Also in 2016, Dr. Phil Burke Ramsey, older brother of child murder victim JonBenét Ramsey.
During the show, Burke, along with his parents – who have all been accused of the still-unsolved 1996 murder of the six-year-old – pleaded innocent.
He even said he was willing to undergo a lie detector test to prove his innocence.
Burke also said that “it doesn’t make any sense” that his mother Patsy murdered his sister, who won a pageant
He said, “Not to say she never got upset, but didn’t even come close to putting a finger on us, let alone killing her child.”
He insisted his mother – who died of cancer in 2006 – never spanked her children. “Nothing like that,” he added. “Not nearly.”
“For the past 20 years, I’ve wanted to grow up like a normal kid,” Burke said.
In the interview, Dr. Phil Burke: “Has it ever occurred to you that your parents actually thought you did that and didn’t ask you because they didn’t want to know?”
Burke replies, “I know people think I did it; that my parents did it. I know we were suspects.”
“I remember my mom searching my room that night and saying, ‘Where’s my baby? Where’s my baby?’”
Some criticized his behavior on the show, claiming his body language was “creepy” as he appeared to be smiling while recounting the night his sister’s body was found.

But dr Phil later claimed Burke – who now works as a software engineer – was just socially awkward.
He said, “This is fear. He’s socially uncomfortable – I’ve seen it a lot.”
