DR. Oz has hit back at rival John Fetterman after claiming research led by the famous doctor killed 300 dogs.
The two men are currently locked in a bitter political battle as they compete for an open Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
Now Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz called Democrat Fetterman’s agenda “radical, deadly and wrong” in a tweet shared Wednesday.
He has also shared a series of posts accusing his “lawless leftist” rival of “supporting criminals” and endorsing “dangerous” proposals.
This happened after Fetterman Dr. Oz as “sick” and “puppy killer” after a Jezebel report that claimed “the Republican Senate nominee’s research killed over 300 dogs.”
He continued to slam the GOP nominee for the article that claimed the animal deaths happened when Oz was the Columbia University Institute of Comparative Medicine.
He held the position of principal investigator on 75 projects during his tenure between 1989 and 2010, the article said.
The publication said he did not kill the dogs himself.
But it says Oz’s team conducted experiments on at least 1,027 live animals, resulting in hundreds of deaths.
The team of dr. Oz has denied the claims. The US Sun has reached out to the offices of Oz and Fetterman for comment.
A spokesman for the Republican told Newsweek, “Only the idiots at Newsweek believe what they read in Jezebel.”
dr Oz doesn’t appear to have addressed the claims directly.
It’s legal to use animals for scientific experiments, but there are strict guidelines for their treatment.
The presidential battlefield race to succeed outgoing Republican Sen. Pat Toomey could help determine control of the tightly divided Senate.
Democrats see it as perhaps their best opportunity to snag a seat in just a handful of close national-level races.
A new poll suggests a close race – but shows Fetterman is still six points clear of Oz.
In the grueling election battle, Oz has repeatedly raised questions about the seriousness of Fetterman’s lingering effects of a stroke in May.
For decades, the Philadelphia suburbs, with their large swing voter base, were a key indicator of the success of national candidates in the embattled presidential state.
In the 2020 presidential election, the former stronghold of the Republicans was decisive for the victory of President Joe Biden in Pennsylvania.
Moderate GOP voters have teamed up with Democrats to run a deficit for Donald Trump.
